Forget the Kindle, I want the Apple Tablet

Posted by admin on Jul 26, 2009 in Gadgets

Ok, I said earlier that I’d love a Kindle, especially the new one with the big screen. Well, if Apple finally does the right thing and release a tablet PC. I’m all over it.

I multitask alot. In fact, generally, when I’m watching TV, ether my iPhone or laptop is in hand. I’m generally only surfing the internet during this time. I use the laptop because the iPhone Safari, while decent, does suffer from a screen that is too small for prolonged viewing.

If the reports from AppleInsider are true, we could be see in Apple Tablet sometime next year.

Could this be the Apple Tablet?

Could this be the Apple Tablet?

New LED technology made from Salmon

Posted by admin on Jul 25, 2009 in Science

Go DNA!

Go DNA!

My kids are constantly leaving the light on, we’ve switched to flourescent where we can but I’m not really that happy with the light. It was with this in mind when I uncovered this report about researchers inventing an new LED lightbulb from salmon DNA.

University of Connecticut researchers have added fluorescent dye to salmon DNA and spun the DNA strands into nanofibers to create a brand new material that gives off a bright white light. A LED light is coated with the DNA nanofibers, and voila, a salmon DNA lightbulb is born.

One of the coolest things about the A-Team was BA van. It was bad ass and I wanted one. Well, some dude has done has converted his van to the A-Team van and is now selling it for $999. If you want one. Check it out.

movie poster for tron legacy

movie poster for tron legacy

As an young 11 year old boy, I remember a lot of my first trip to Disney World. For some reason though what really stands out for me is waiting for our flight home. During the wait, I got to see a trailer that blew my mind. The trailer was for Tron and, like many geeks is probably one of the reasons we got into computers.

Those memories came rushing back to me today as I got a first glimpse at the Tron Legacy trailer.

I hope to god this ends up being Star Trek good and not Star Wars suck-ass.

You can also find a boatload of more Tron legacy information here.
